Sometimes, towels can smell because of mildew. If the towels spent a day wet in the washer before they were placed in the dryer, it can cause them to smell. 

Well not to worry! White vinegar actually works wonders on removing the smell and you don't even have to use soap or bleach! Just add one cup of vinegar to the load of towels in the washing machine and run the hot setting. After the wash cycle is complete, air dry the towels or throw them in the dryer with a dryer sheet! Problem solved! The towels should be back to normal without the smell of mildew.
