Very gentle cleaning with mild soap and water is generally all that is needed to care for wrought iron patio furniture.  But if rust stains happen, sanding may be needed.  Be sure to protect your wrought iron furniture from rust by using furniture covers, or bringing the pieces inside.

A big enemy to plastic patio furniture is scuffing which can create dirty stains that are difficult to remove.  While regular care requires only water and possibly a mild dish soap, repainting may be needed for serious scuffs and scrapes.

Teak is one of the more beautiful choices for patio furniture, but it can be a little more needy as far as care and cleaning are concerned.  Teak allowed to gray may not need as much care as teak that needs to keep its original color.  In addition teak will need to be sealed to protect it from the elements.

Regular dish soap and water are usually sufficient to clean aluminum patio furniture.  For major scuffs, a nonabrasive gel cleaner can be a great choice.  Baby oil can also be used as a protect and shiner for aluminum patio furniture.

For wicker patio furniture, the outdoor elements can be a life-shortening enemy.  Covers for wicker patio furniture are a really good idea for protection.  Wicker patio furniture needs to be hosed down every few weeks.  For deep cleaning a soft scrub brush and oil based furniture soap are your best bets.
